It could be Cancer or a non Cancerous tumor...or knotted muscles or inflammation from scar tissue or an infection. I'm not a doctor, and you need to go see one. Knowing is better than not knowing. The unknown is likely causing stress hormones to be pumping through your body, which that problematic for your health no matter what the problem is. If it were to be Cancer, you want to have it diagnosed as soon as possible, so that you can do some research into traditional and alternative medicine options and figure out what is right for you. You need to be proactive, and not just wait for things to happen to you. My husband and I take turmeric capsules and fish oil capsules every day to lessen the likelihood of Cancer. There have been a number of articles about turmeric/curcumin preventing and fighting Cancer. Turmeric is fat soluble so you need to take/eat a fat (fish oil, olive oil, butter, etc.) with it for it to work properly. When our 15.75 year old dog had an inoperable tumor and the vet said that she would not live to see her 16th birthday, we figured we had nothing to lose, so we started putting the spice turmeric and olive oil in her food...by her 16th birthday, the tumor was gone, and she lived to be 17 years old. Here are a couple of links regarding turmeric: http://www.healthdiaries.com/eatthis/20-health-benefits-of-turmeric.html
http://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/herb/turmeric
Also, I'd recommend checking out The Cancer Treatment Center of America's website for Cancer prevention and treatment: http://www.cancercenter.com/
Additionally, no matter what the health situation, a good attitude is vital to a positive outcome, so I recommend checking out info at the Option Institute website: http://www.option.org and videos on their YouTube page: http://www.youtube.com/user/optionvideodept/videos
Now, stop torturing yourself with the unknown and go to a doctor to find out what is going on. Like I said before, it is better to know than to not know. Peace be with you!

Hello Admin,
Maybe a little off topic, however, i have had pain in my bum for the past few days and have felt a small bump there. i'm concerned because my younger sister (19) was diagnosed with ovarian and cervical cancers last year and acute myeloid leukemia earlier this year, and she's only 19. also, my uncle was diagnosed with rectal cancer a few months ago. i'm really scared and am afraid to go to the doctor. is this even a sign or symptom of cancer?
Thx.

Marina, Absolutely, the Son-Rise Startup http://www.autismtreatmentcenter.org/contents/programs_and_services/index.php is worth it! As for the running in circles with your daughter, that is the joining technique, which is used in the "bonding" portion of the Son-Rise Program. Once you have a child's willing engagement, then you can teach/challenge them. Remember the ABC's (Assess, Bond, Challenge). Assess whether she is willingly engaging/interacting with you. If she is, you can challenge her with something that you want to teach. If not, you must bond with her (join her) until she is engaging with you, then challenge/teach her. There are a lot of two steps forward, one step back moments. Sometimes you have to go stop the teaching/challenging and go back to joining, but eventually, you will get where you want to go. Just make it fun for the both of you. Here's a video montage that I did a couple of years ago...as you will see, I did my own fair share of running in circles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM5y_HzdaUE

Dear Nicole and family,
thank you for your blog, I have found so many answers to my own questions and dilemmas..
I am a mother of 2 years old non-verbal autistic daughter from Australia(originally from Russia). We are already spend so much money on just to diagnose her.. no government therapy yet as we are waiting for intervention's team report. I was trying to implement Son-Rise program at home in the last month and a half. there was no eye contact in December, we are doing much better now. I am on a cross-road and need your advice should I go to United States for a Start-up program ( I have all DVDs and CDs from Option Institute) ??? this is a very long and expensive trip for me so I need to be careful about my decision. the other option for us is government subsid.ABA therapy but my daughter is such a gentle person so I am naturally very worried about that kind of therapy. for now I am doing that my daughter loves the most - running in circles .. it makes her very happy when we do it together. I am still very puzzled on how she going to learn from running in circles with me - she is probably 18 months behind in her development but I am so afraid to lose that we have - the eye contact and I know that you've lost a lot when doctors told you to stop doing that. thank you, Marina

Hello~

Does anyone know of any scholarships for parents of children with special needs going back to school to work with children with special needs - or something related to that?

I am a mom with a daughter with autism going back to get my Master's degree in Speech Pathology. The powers of early intervention and biomedical treatment pulled my daughter out of her "bubble of fog" and I want to help other parents do the same for their kids. I have seen first hand how early intervention can completely change a child with autism and it is my mission to make sure that others get the chance to see the same in their children. I knew that autism would change our lives - I just never imagined how much it would change me.

Any help in finding a scholarship to help me achieve my goal would be so greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading!
